چکیده

Introduction Climate change and environmental concerns are tremendously influencing and shaping the future of the power industry. As a positive consequence, there has been a remarkable, rapid increase in the past several years in the megawatts produced by renewable energy resources across the globe, and this trend will continue for the next decades. These renewable energy resources, including wind generating units and solar generation, are for the most part intermittent in nature. Smart Grid technologies will enable power systems to operate with larger amounts of these energy resources since they enable both the suppliers and consumers to compensate for such intermittency. New features addressing the intermittent nature of these resources should be added into Energy Management Systems (EMS) and power system planning, so that systems with Smart Grids can be operated safely.

Design of Fuzzy Logic Based PI Controller for DFIG-based Wind Farm Aimed at Automatic Generation Control in an Interconnected Two Area Power System

This paper addresses the design procedure of a fuzzy logic-based adaptive approach for DFIGs to enhance automatic generation control (AGC) capabilities and provide better dynamic responses in multi-area power systems. In doing so, a proportional-integral (PI) controller is employed in DFIG structure to control the governor speed of wind turbine. At the first stage, the adjustable parameters of ...

Optimizing the AGC system of a three-unequal-area hydrothermal system based on evolutionary algorithms

This paper focuses on expanding and evaluating an automatic generation control (AGC) system of a hydrothermal system by modelling the appropriate generation rate constraints to operate practically in an economic manner. The hydro area is considered with an electric governor and the thermal area is modelled with a reheat turbine. Furthermore, the integral controllers and electri...

Analysis of Wind Speed Forecasting Error Effects on Automatic Generation Control Performance

The main goal of this paper is to study statistical indices and evaluate AGC indices in power system which has large penetration of the WTGs. Increasing penetration of wind turbine generations, needs to study more about impacts of it on power system frequency control. Frequency control is changed with unbalancing real-time system generation and load . Also wind turbine generations have more flu...

The Relationship of Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Regulation / Dispatch under High Wind Penetration

This paper investigates the operational benefits of three different methods of providing secondary reserves in National Grid system under future higher penetration of wind generation. New automatic balancing mechanisms that will be feasible under National Grid’s new Electricity Balancing System (EBS) were of particular interest to the system operators. Secondary reserve products including manua...

Automatic Generation Controller Design in Deregulated and Networked Environment Using Predictive Control Strategy

In this paper, Generalized Predictive Control (GPC) algorithm is applied to design automatic generation control (AGC) systems in deregulated and networked environment. The proposed AGC approach can be used to deal with the effects caused by power market and communication networks. Finally, the developed scheme is implemented in a two-area AGC system, and the simulation results show the effectiv...
